Reports:
Administrative Council: Jean Chapin and Sarah Dahlen both attended the meeting on June 12. Jean presented the summer reading rack cards that she and Jenna Severson designed to promote summer reading to the council. The cards are to publicize CLA’s campaign to sign up a million readers this summer. The council quickly approved the rack cards to be paid for with PLP funds. Sarah reported that the council reviewed MOBAC Tech committee’s recommendation to purchase Zoom for video conferencing and the council quickly approved funding for Zoom which will replace the current Mega Meeting software. A question was brought up about whether this means that meetings should only be hosted at locations with virtual meeting capacity, but it was not resolved. One member brought up the idea of a “Mutual Aid Agreement” for MOBAC libraries to assist each other in case of disaster/emergency, but this has not gone further. There is a new Director at Salinas Public Library but she did not attend the meeting.
Tech Committee: No one present to report
ILL Committee: No meeting
SPLAMBA: Member was not able to attend the meeting on June 19, so no report.
Old Business: We brought a copy of the rack card that was created to promote the million reader campaign initiated by CLA. The purpose of the rack card is to promote summer reading and encourage sign up by passing the card out at State Parks or other partners like museums, recreation centers,or the Missions.
New Business: Sarah created a document that lists “MOBAC Reference Committee Chair Tasks” for the incoming chair and vice-chair. The group gave feedback on the document and also reviewed the “New Members sheet” which Sarah will update on the wiki.
Select Chair and Chair-Elect/Vice Chair: Be Astengo volunteered to be the incoming chair and hopes that a vice chair can be found quickly.
The group discussed future workshop topics and created a list on the wiki of topics for 2015-2016.
